The Dayco Heater Tap is a 4 port bypass valve designed to regulate the flow of coolant to the heater core. It is an essential component in controlling the heating system of your vehicle.

The Heater Control Valve is responsible for blocking or allowing the flow of coolant to the heater core, depending on the heating requirements inside the vehicle. When the valve is in the off position, coolant flow to the heater core is blocked, ensuring no heating is provided. Conversely, when heating is needed, the valve allows coolant to flow to the heater core.
In late model vehicles, the heater valve can be activated by vacuum control, while earlier models use a cable mechanism. It is important to note that common failures of the heater valve include leakage, blocking, and cracking when removing heater hoses, especially in late model valves made of polymer.
