Testing Procedure:

1. Preparation:

   • Run the engine for about 5 minutes until it reaches normal operating temperature.
   • Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug wires.

2. Testing:

   • Remove all spark plugs and clean them.
   • Screw the spark plug adapter into the spark plug hole by hand.
   • Crank the engine for at least 4 compression strokes or until a consistent reading is obtained on the gauge.
   • Record the compression reading and repeat the test for all cylinders.

Test Results:

• Normal Cylinder:
  • The needle should advance on each stroke until it reaches a peak. All cylinders should test within the engine manufacturer's specifications.
• Low Compression:
  • A low reading indicates issues such as worn piston rings, a blown head gasket, or valve problems.
