Rather than a traditional accelerator cable, many modern vehicles use 'fly by wire' throttle technology. This system relies on a sensor that measures the pedal pressure and position and sends a signal to the vehicle's engine computer which converts to acceleration. Many of these fly by wire systems have a noticeable delay. The EVC EVC allows tuning of the signal from the accelerator pedal with multiple inbuilt settings to ensure finding a setting that suits any driving style.

The EVC EVC includes an automatic control function that changes the level of throttle performance based on pedal pressure. For instance, in traffic with gentle acceleration it will select setting 1; for hard acceleration or towing heavy loads it will select setting 9.

The modes are equipped with an intuitive display and settings menu for easy use:

• Normal Mode: Replicates factory settings.
• Economy Mode (E): Nine settings reduce response from the pedal to improve fuel economy and traction control in off-road situations.

Ultimate Performance Mode:

• - Ultimate mode 1-3: Smooth everyday driving acceleration.
  - Ultimate mode 4-6: Sportier acceleration for short bursts around town.
  - Ultimate mode 7-9: Instant throttle response for high-performance needs.
  The transmission settings work equally well on both automatic and manual transmissions with internal adjustments available. Drivers can change through the modes at any time but it is recommended not to change while accelerating. The Eco mode is particularly useful when towing as it delays throttle response allowing better steering control when reversing trailers or moving uphill. For off-road situations like sand or mud: Eco Mode helps unstick vehicles bogged in soft sand without recovery gear. Higher Eco settings prevent jerky accelerations across bouncy terrain during four-wheel driving. Higher ultimate performance settings provide quick bursts of power needed to get out of muddy holes or flick clogged mud from tyres improving grip.
