WSS-996 PAT Wheel Speed Sensor
Wheel speed sensors, originally introduced for Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS), are now integral to numerous modern vehicle systems. With a focus on safety and customer demand, these sensors have become essential for the operation of intelligent safety systems and other vital vehicle functions. - Advanced data transmission systems like the Controller Area Network (CAN) allow multiple control units to utilise wheel speed sensor data. - Crucial for driving safety, influencing systems such as ABS, TCS (Traction Control System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System), and ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control). - Supports engine management, transmission control, and navigation systems. - Significantly impacts vehicle dynamics, driving comfort, safety, emissions, and fuel consumption. - Available in two types: passive (inductive) and active. - Passive sensors are inductive analogue types that do not require an external power supply. - Active sensors are digital hall sensor types with integrated electronics, requiring a power supply from the ABS module. - Active sensors offer accurate wheel speed detection from stationary, crucial for traction control and hill descent control. - Symptoms of a faulty wheel speed sensor include multiple warning lights on the dashboard, wheels locking during braking, pulsation of the brake pedal, erratic or no speedometer operation, and other seemingly unrelated system failures. - For effective diagnosis, use a suitable diagnostic tool to read fault codes, inspect the wiring for damage, inspect mechanical assemblies, check the output signal, supply voltage for active sensors, and sensor resistance for inductive sensors. * For correct fitment ensure the vehicle is listed in the compatibility list and read any notes associated with the product. Unfortunately, over the past few years, the Australian aftermarket has seen a significant increase in lower quality EFI and Engine Management products. It is easy for consumers and even technicians to be confused as to the quality of the products in the market. Because the issues experienced by workshops installing low quality parts can include safety, expensive repairs and damage to your reputation an increased request for quality products has become evident in the aftermarket.
Sometimes products shipped from leading manufacturers overseas require repackaging in Australia. In these cases we have begun to use a new range of premium packaging to enable easy identification of the premium brand or genuine product. Where required products from leading manufacturers including Pierburg, Bosch, Delphi, VDO, Denso, Valeo, Hitachi, VDO, TI Automotive, Walbro, Bougicord, FAE, Standard Motor Products, TE Automotive, Hella, Bremi and others may be supplied in the new PAT Premium Range packaging, giving you peace of mind that a quality brand product is enclosed.
Some PAT branded products may also be in their original packaging. Due to the changing nature of the supply chains around the world, our supplier sometimes will change suppliers. For example a product that used to be supplied as a Hitachi product might now be a Bosch brand. In all cases they will be well known OE type products as per the above paragraph.
