Semi-metallic brake pads of Malko contain metals such as copper, graphite, and iron. They also mix composite alloys and fillers to complete its manufacture. These brake pads are popular amongst SUVs and larger vehicles due to their superior friction for heavier loads. They are best suited for vehicles that are used for everyday driving. These brake pads perform well, last longer and are tough & durable to withstand Australia’s harsh conditions.

  • These brake pads are economical.
  • The semi-metallic brake pads are typically heavier than other kinds and could affect the fuel efficiency of the car to a small extent.
  • Since the brake pads rub against other brake components, they tend to wear them down also.
  • Over time, when the brake pads have worn down a little, they could make grinding or squeaking sounds when creating friction.
  • Semi-metallic brake pads function best when they are warm. Thus, in colder climates, they need time to warm up and when you brake, you might find a slight delay in the car responding.

IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE BUYING

Steps to ensure you are getting the correct brake pads

  1. CHECK The Shape and Size as shown below BEFORE buying. Yes this might mean having to take off a wheel and PHYSICALLY check the brake pad on the vehicle, checking the size and shape. BUT there are many cars on the market now where there are more than 1 type of brake pad to suit a vehicle even with the vehicle details.
  2. READ any notes we may have such as calipers types, number of pistons are as per the 1st point you may need to check the pad shape and size prior to buying.
  3. SEND us your vehicle details including VIN number or Rego number to make sure they are correct, or we may ask you to follow step 1 to check the pad shape.
  4. Even if this part is listed for your vehicle there may also be another that is also suitable for the same model. So please follow the above steps.

These are BRAKE PADS, to suit BRAKE ROTORS/DISCS. They do not suit drum brake setups. Some vehicles can have EITHER Disc Brakes or Drum Brakes (especially on the rear end).
