Goss Direct Injection High Pressure Fuel Pump — HPF122
The Goss HPF122 is a direct injection High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) for compatible Nissan vehicles, including the Juke, Pulsar, Qashqai, Serena and X-Trail.
- Direct injection petrol engines are now fitted to more than two million vehicles in Australia and New Zealand — they deliver higher output from a smaller capacity engine, with improved economy and lower emissions, by injecting a precise amount of fuel directly into the combustion chamber at much higher pressure than a traditional petrol injection system
- The HPFP is the main component in that system — it compresses the fuel supplied by the electric fuel pump up to the pressure required for high pressure injection
- Mounted to the engine and mechanically driven by the camshaft; the ECU varies its output to match the load demands of the engine
- A pressure solenoid controls the volume and pressure by changing the stroke and port location, while pressure and temperature sensors provide the information needed for the best combustion conditions
- Part of the Goss Vehicle Mechatronics range, sourced from leading OE and AM suppliers
Important: Find the cause before fitting a new pump
Diagnosing a failed HPFP is usually straightforward, but the cause of the failure also needs to be found and rectified — or the new pump will fail prematurely. Common causes include:
- Lack of maintenance: Stretched or missed oil changes cause wear between the camshaft lobes and the HPFP follower, and carbon build-up in the intake. The pump cannot generate enough piston movement, so fuel pressure drops, fault codes are logged and the MIL illuminates.
- Incorrect engine oil: Inadequate lubrication of the camshaft and HPFP cam follower causes premature failure and can damage the camshaft lobes. Inspect and remedy this when replacing a HPFP.
- Leaking injectors: At these pressures some leak-down can occur after shutdown, causing carbon build-up, a rich mixture, a longer crank cycle and early failure.
- ECU software: Make sure the engine ECU has the latest calibration. Newer calibrations can resolve wear and driveability problems, and may save replacing the pump at all.
- Smoke on start-up: Seals failing inside the pump can let lubricating oil into the fuel side while the engine is stopped, logging numerous rich codes.

Packaging: Manufacturers periodically update their packaging and labelling. You may receive the current or a previous design — the product, formulation and part number are unchanged.
Fitment (vehicle-specific products): For products listed to suit a specific vehicle, our fitment data is kept as accurate as possible, but vehicle catalogues are not perfect. Some models had more than one part fitted depending on build date, engine, or component size/variant. It is the buyer's responsibility to confirm the part suits their vehicle before purchasing. If you have any doubt, please message us with your vehicle's registration number and state (preferred), or full VIN/build details, and we'll do our best to confirm before you buy.
