Product Description

PAT Air Flow Meter: The Essential Engine Management Component

Positioned between the air filter and throttle body, the PAT Air Flow Meter plays a pivotal role in your engine management system. This device measures the incoming air and often incorporates the Intake Air Temperature Sensor (ATS). The data collected by this sensor assists your engine's ECU in determining the correct fuel mix, ignition timing, and occasionally, transmission shifting.

Key Features:

  • Contains a tiny, electrically heated wire that measures airflow volume
  • Includes an additional sensor to monitor the wire's temperature
  • Helps your ECU to precisely inject the right amount of fuel
  • Can detect and indicate potential issues through warning codes on your dash

Potential Issues:

A faulty PAT Air Flow Meter can lead to a range of issues such as rough idle, sluggish performance, black exhaust smoke, poor fuel economy, and even trigger a warning light on your dash. The primary cause of these problems is contamination of the hot wire by dust, dirt, or oil gunk, which can prevent accurate airflow readings. While newer models are designed to minimise this issue, they are not completely immune. Oily aftermarket air filters are a common source of contamination.

Diagnosing the Issue:

Use the appropriate scan tool or oscilloscope to check the sensor's signal and compare it to the specifications for your vehicle. Warning codes on your dash can also indicate a problem (look out for codes starting with P0068, P0100, P0101, P0102, P0103, P0104). Basic issues such as intake leaks or faulty wiring can also affect the PAT Air Flow Meter.

About this brand

PAT

Note: This item may not come in the manufacturers original packaging

Unfortunately, over the past few years, the Australian aftermarket has seen a significant increase in lower quality EFI and Engine Management products. It is easy for consumers and even technicians to be confused as to the quality of the products in the market. Because the issues experienced by workshops installing low quality parts can include safety, expensive repairs and damage to your reputation an increased request for quality products has become evident in the aftermarket.

Sometimes products shipped from leading manufacturers overseas require repackaging in Australia. In these cases we have begun to use a new range of premium packaging to enable easy identification of the premium brand or genuine product. Where required products from leading manufacturers including Pierburg, Bosch, Delphi, VDO, Denso, Valeo, Hitachi, VDO, TI Automotive, Walbro, Bougicord, FAE, Standard Motor Products, TE Automotive, Hella, Bremi and others may be supplied in the new PAT Premium Range packaging, giving you peace of mind that a quality brand product is enclosed.

Some PAT branded products may also be in their original packaging. Due to the changing nature of the supply chains around the world, our supplier sometimes will change suppliers. For example a product that used to be supplied as a Hitachi product might now be a Bosch brand. In all cases they will be well known OE type products as per the above paragraph.
