- Functionality: The Mass Air Flow Sensor houses a small, electrically heated wire. Another sensor nearby monitors the wire's temperature. The amount of electricity needed to maintain the wire's heat represents the airflow volume, providing your ECU with the information it needs to inject the correct amount of fuel.
- Potential Issues: A faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor can lead to a range of problems, including rough idle, sluggish performance, black exhaust smoke, poor fuel economy, and even a warning light on your dashboard.
